Curriculum Vitae of Emilio MartinesPresent working positionResearcher at Ionized Gas Institute of CNR in Padova (Italy), seconded at Consorzio RFX. Since 1st July 2007 he is head of FB Group, one the five physics groups within Consorzio RFX, presently composed of 5 researchers, 2 part-time researchers and 3 PhD students. Studies4-year degree ("laurea") in Physics, obtained on the 18th July 1991 at Pisa University, as a student of the Scuola Normale Superiore, with the mark 110/110 cum laude. Title of the thesis: "Investigation on the energy fluxes in the outer region of a Reversed Field Pinch configuration". PhD ("dottorato di ricerca") in Energetics, followed during academic years 91-92. 92-93 and 93-94 at the Department of Electrical Engineering of Padova University. The PhD title was achieved on 24th October 1995, defending a thesis titled "Energy transport and superthermal electrons in Reversed Field Pinch magnetic configurations". 4th Summer School on Vector and Parallel Processing, followed from 11th to 22nd Seprember 1995 at CINECA. Stays abroadFrom 14th June to 17th September 1993, at the Nuclear Research Center of Cadarache (France) working on the controlled thermonuclear fusion experiment Tore Supra. From 1st September to 7th October 1997 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA) working on the controlled thermonuclear fusion experiment MST. From 3rd November 2000 to 31st January 2001 at the Max Planck Institut für Plasmaphysik in Garching (Germany) working on the controlled thermonuclear fusion experiment W7-AS. From 5th November 2001 to 4th February 2002 at the Max Planck Institut für Plasmaphysik in Garching (Germany) working on the controlled thermonuclear fusion experiment ASDEX Upgrade. Several stays, from year 2000 to 2008, for a total of about 6 months, at the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Prague, working on the controlled thermonuclear fusion experiment CASTOR. Teaching activityAcademic years from 1997-1998 to 2000-2001: laboratory assistantship for the Fisica II course (basic electromagnetism) withing the degrees in Electrical Engineering and Construction Engineering at Padova University. Academic year 2001-2002: teacher of the Fisica II (basic electromagnetism) course within the bachelor's degree in Information Engineering at Padova University. Academic year 2002-2003: teacher of the Fisica I (basic mechanics) course within the bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at Padova University. Academic year 2004-2005: teacher of the Fisica II (basic electromagnetism) course within the bachelor's degree in Information Engineering at Padova University and teaching asistantship for the Laboratorio A course within the master's degree in Physics at Padova University. Academic years from 2006-2007 onwards (excluding 2008-2009): teacher of the Physics of Nuclear Fusion and Plasma Applications course (40 hours) within the master's degree in Physics at Padova University. During year 2004 has set-up a plasma physics experiment for students, called VESPA, which is routinely used in a laboratory course of the master's degree in Physics at Padova University and for teaching activities related to other courses. Organizational dutiesSince 2002 is member of the International Advisory Board of the annual Workshop on Electric Fields, Structures and Relaxation in Edge Plasmas, since 2008 named EFTSOMP. Since 2007 is member of the International Scientific Committee of the biennial International Workshop on Electrical Probes in Magnetized Plasmas (IWEP). Referee of papers for the following international journals: Physical Review Letters, Nuclear Fusion, Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, European Physical Journal D and Physics of Plasmas. Referee of research projects for the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. Invited talksCurrent filaments in turbulent magnetized plasmas, invited talk given at the 36th EPS Conference on Plasma Physics, which took place from 29th June to 3rd July 2009 in Sofia (Bulgaria). PublicationsCo-author of 120 articles published on international journals (among which a paper published on Nature Physics and 10 papers published on Physical Review Letters) and 78 papers in international conference proceedings.
